New Hymn

Every once in a while I discover a new hymn that is quite excellent. Recently I have had one stuck in my head: What Love It Was That Brought Thee Down. And more, the actual music to this hymn (MELITA 8.8.8.8.8.8.) is quite excellent.

1 WHAT love it was that brought Thee down, Down to the depths in which I lay, That made Thee leave Thy glory-throne, In Servant's form to tread Thy way; Yet lower still to death to go, That I might never judgment know.

2 My place is now in Thee above, By virtue of Thy precious blood, Before Thy Father's face in love, Made now my Father and my God. Oh! that my feeble voice might swell, The praise of Him who loves so well.

3 'Tis love that cannot be explained, It is too wonderful, too vast; The heart of God alone contained, Such thoughts divine in ages past. But oh! I know it rests on me, And will throughout eternity.

4 O fill me Lord yet more and more, So that my heart e'en here below, From Thy love's rich and boundless store, Be satisfied and overflow. Full with the blessing Thou hast given, The foretaste now of what makes heaven.

What a great hymn! O that our feeble voices as believers might swell in sincerity for Him who loved us so well!

Unfathomable Love
How blessed is our Lord. ..."looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him, endured the cross, despising the shame and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God". Heb. 12:2. Thank God that He was willing, without a second thought, to humble Himself for our sakes. "He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemend already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. But he he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God". John 3:18-21 The world does not recognize it's plight. "...Their foot shall slip in due time; For the day of their calamity is at hand, And the things to come hasten upon them. For the Lord will judge His people and have compassion on His servants, when He sees that their power is gone, and there is no one remaining, bond or free. He will say: Where are their gods, the rock in which they sought refuge? Who ate the fat of their sacrifices, and drank the wine of their drunk offering? Let them rise and help you, and be your refuge. Now see that I, even I, am He, and there is no God besides me; I kill and make alive; I wound and I heal; Nor is there any who can deliver from my hand". Deut 32:35b-39 It took an all-knowing, all-loving God to rescue us!!!
